Barbara G. “Barb” Rossi (McEneny), 74, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2026, in Syracuse, New York, the city where she was born and spent her life.
Born on August 2, 1951, in Syracuse to James and Lottie McEneny, Barb grew up surrounded by family and community. She graduated from Solvay High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from Syracuse University—an achievement that reflected her curiosity and dedication to learning.
Barb married Nicholas C. Rossi, with whom she shared many years of love and partnership until his passing in August 2000. Together they raised two children: her son Peter (Courtney) and her daughter Katie (Greg), who brought great joy to her life. Barb is also survived by two precious grandchildren, Emma and Jack as well as three furry grandchildren, John, Lincoln, and Molly. Barb is also survived by her brother George McEneny (Barbara) of Parrish, Florida, several cousins, brothers and sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother James McEneny in 2021.
A woman of warmth and generosity, Barb was well-loved by both family and friends. She had a special talent for baking and was known for the delicious treats she lovingly prepared for family gatherings and for her friends in the Strathmore neighborhood and more recently at Camillus Pointe. Her kitchen was often filled with the comforting aromas of homemade desserts that brought people together.
Barb found joy in simple pleasures—spending time with friends playing cards or Bingo, sharing laughter during game nights, or diving into a good book with her book club. Her love of reading enriched her life and connected her with others who shared her passion for stories.
A celebration of life will be held in the spring of 2026.
Barb’s memory will live on through those who knew and loved her. May her legacy of kindness, laughter, and sweet confections bring comfort in the days ahead.
